Family History at the Local History Fair

Many thanks to all who helped with our stand at Leamington’s Local History Fair on the 21st September.  We seemed to be fairly busy all day and I certainly ended up hoarse.  A special thanks to those who submitted their ancestor profiles for the displays – everyone seemed to enjoy reading them.

The Family History stand was a joint operation with the Leamington Library Family History Group, the Warwick Library Family History Group and the Trinity group.  Many of our members attend all three so it was a natural grouping.  I was the resident  “Ask the Expert”  but the other volunteers I am sure answered as many queries as I did and I needed David’s and Aileen’s help with a seaman query.  Whatever reference book and resource you bring it is never the one you need!

We had our stand up and running within three quarters of an hour of getting there so thanks to Sandra and to Andy for that and their rapid drawingpinning and thanks to Mary for her invaluable help at the other end of the day when packing up.  As a result it all seemed to go relatively smoothly and successfully.

We now have to think of something different to do for next year…………
