Dublin Crown Jewels cause sleepless night
Last Monday’s talk on the Dublin Crown Jewels in the form of a UCOS briefing was enjoyed by the members who all racked their brains to provide a solution to this hundred year old cold case. They predicted that it would cause insomnia and in one case a member woke up thinking about it.
Family historians of course do this sort of thing all the time – their whole research story is one long cold case answering the whys and wherefores and tracking down lost ancestors so it was no surprise that they tackled this with enthusiasm.
Other more mundane matters at the meeting covered our representation at the Leamington Local History Fair on Saturday 21st September at the Dormer Conference Centre next to St Peter’s Church on Dormer Place in Leamington. It runs from 10am to 4pm admission is free and the Trinity Group has combined with the Leamington Library and Warwick Library Family History Groups to host a Family History stand where Jacqui in her persona as Leamington Library’s Genealogy Genie will be the “Ask the Expert” and answer family history queries.
We also agreed not to hold a December meeting but to go out for a Christmas lunch instead and the date was fixed for Wednesday 11th December somewhere in town. Scouts are out now for suitable venues.
