The Dublin Crown Jewels Mystery

As you may recall I had to cancel the talk I was giving on Sir Arthur Vicars and the Dublin Crown Jewels Mystery in May and decided to give it at our September meeting for the group and anyone else who wished to attend.

Sir Arthur Vicars was born in Holly Walk in Leamington and went on to become the head genealogist in Ireland when his career was blighted by the theft of the “Dublin Crown Jewels”.

The September meeting is Monday 16th September and as usual we will commence in the Library at Trinity School at 7pm with coffee and biscuits and then at about 8pm  I will give the talk.

If you are not a member of the group and wish to attend please contact me using the form below.

The group will also be represented at the Leamington Local History Fair at the Dormer Conference Centre on Saturday 21st September – come see us there.

Family History for Absolute Beginners Course

Jacqui will be teaching a course for those who wish to start researching their family history this September.  It is an evening course based at Trinity School for 3 weeks from Tuesday 24 September running from 7 to 9 pm.

She aims to cover the basics of how to research your tree back to the 1800s using birth marriage and death certificates and indexes and the census but also will cover organising your research, drawing up a family tree and talking to your relatives.  Although the adverts say it is just a matter of typing in your name and letting the computer do the rest it isn’t quite that easy so this course is a grounding in the basics and how to get around any problems you encounter.
